CRITTERS 1986 — 40TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION

2026 marks the 40th anniversary of Critters — one of the most iconic cult horror films of the 80s and a film that, four decades later, still holds a special place in the hearts of genre fans around the world. A chaotic blend of sci-fi, horror and dark humor that introduced the world to the Krites — small extraterrestrial creatures with endless hunger, razor-sharp teeth and a design that became instantly unforgettable.

Critters has always been one of my favorite films and a huge source of inspiration throughout the years. The practical effects, creature design, atmosphere and raw creativity of that era had a massive impact on the way I understand visual storytelling and character creation today.

In 2016, during Monsterpalooza in Los Angeles, I had the chance to meet The Chiodo Brothers — the legendary effects artists and filmmakers behind the original Critters creatures. Stephen, Charles and Edward Chiodo are widely known for their groundbreaking practical effects work during the 80s and 90s, creating some of the most memorable creatures and visual effects in cult cinema. Beyond Critters, they also created the iconic creatures from Killer Klowns from Outer Space and worked on productions such as Team America: World Police, Elf and many other films that shaped an entire generation of genre cinema fans.

This 40th anniversary edition was created as a personal tribute to that world of practical effects, VHS-era horror and the imagination that made films like Critters timeless. Printed in high quality on Pearl / Lustre RC Premium paper, preserving the vibrant colors, textures and detail of the original artwork. Each piece is hand-signed and numbered.
